Digital Marketing Training for Marketing & PR Agencies

Mar 27, 2019

All agencies need a little bit of extra training every now and then. The world of digital marketing moves so quickly and there are many opportunities around now that weren’t there 5 years ago.

It’s also very important for any training sessions to be delivered in the right context. You’re an agency with many clients and you need a session with this in mind. Out of the box training in public or group sessions doesn’t always fit the bill so grab yourself some private in house training just for you and your team.

Over the years I’ve travelled all over the UK delivering training for many Marketing & PR agencies.

Content Marketing Training for Marketing & PR Agencies

As an agency you probably have to write many different types of content for different types of clients. I once spoke to an agency who managed content for a wedding dress retailer, fishing tackle supplier and accountant. All of these industry types require a different type of voice, tone and style of content.

The training day I offer for Content Marketing starts at the beginning with research and planning, leads into copywriting, adds a little Search Engine Optimisation and finishes off with tracking and monitoring. All delivered with your agency in mind.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) Training for Marketing & PR Agencies

SEO is probably one of the most misunderstood areas of Marketing and a good deal of SEO is firmly in the Marketing departments remit. Things have moved fast over the years but the basics are still true. Key phrases still matter, so does quality content (but what is it?) and links but understanding how to build all this into your strategy can be complicated…. but it shouldn’t be.

Understanding how modern SEO works within a marketing department is vital. You need to know what to pester your web developer about and how to set goals and measure results correctly.

My 1 day session in Search Engine Optimisation will help you get to grips with one of the most irritating areas of Digital Marketing.

I also have an on demand, online video SEO course available so you can learn at your own pace.

Email Marketing & Mailchimp Training for Marketing & PR Agencies

Email Marketing still works! But we need to be more intelligent about how we execute campaigns.

Learning how to integrate external software like shopping carts and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) apps can help us segment our contacts so were sending the right people the right email at the right time.

Building personas is also important for email marketing as you have to grab attention very quickly so messages have to resonate with your target audience instantly.

I offer a 1 day Email Marketing & Mailchimp training day specifically targeted for agencies who already use Mailchimp but want to take things to the next level.

Hootsuite / Zoho Social Training for Marketing & PR Agencies

One of the most time consuming jobs for a agency is managing client social media. There are many accounts and many platforms and you need some tools to help.

I recommend Hootsuite for very large organisations who want to provide customer support and Zoho Social for the everyday marketing agency. Both have pros and cons but whichever once you use you may need some help integrating the software within your agency.

I offer a 1 day training session on Hootsuite and Zoho Social that looks at all aspects of the software and includes many tips for managing social media effectively.

Podcast Training for Marketing & PR Agencies

Podcasting is really popular right now but that doesn’t mean you have to go and create a fabulous series worthy to be heard on the BBC 😉 There are lots of podcasts out there that are designed for business, some of them regular, some not.

Being able to inform, educate and entertain your audience can help build authority and trust with your clients and generate more sales and leads.

I really enjoy delivering the Podcast Training day as my first career was 15 years in radio!

Conclusion

The world of marketing moves on and most of the basics are the same now as they were back in the 70s or 80s. Understanding your customer is very important, delivering the right message to the right person at the right time is vital.

The hard bit is trying to put what we know into the right context for the digital world.
