I received a question from a client the other day asking about the worth of links from LinkedIn and if they should bother posting and writing up content as LinkedIn doesn’t pass and search engine juice through their links and use the NOFOLLOW tag a lot.
I said, STOP THINKING ABOUT LINKS THAT WAY! 🙂
Lets get one thing straight, the days of going out there and generating articles, posts and content just for links has gone. Google and the other search engines are wise to it and recently Google even told people to stop writing guest blog posts to generate links to their sites. Same goes for LinkedIn and any other social media site or blog.
DON’T WRITE CONTENT TO GET LINKS, WRITE IT TO GET VISITORS.
Should I forget about LinkedIn then?
No, not at all! LinkedIn is a social network for businesses and the people within those businesses so writing and offering your help and advice will be absolutely worth it, especially if you are a B2B company.
And you may get some links as well 😉
Imagine the scenario, you write a cracking article on your blog offering up all sorts of advice and post about it on LinkedIn. People then start looking at your blog, making comments and a few may even link to you from their blogs or social media and this is where you get the search engine juice.
Being active on your site and other sites will help get natural links and visitors arriving at your door.
Another quick point about LinkedIn – Stay active and sign up to the groups your customers are in and then join in the conversion – You’ll get new customers!
